In this week’s Flash professor Stein was in a interesting situation. Without Ronnie to share the Firestorm ability with it was literally killing him. I find it weird that within the first 30 seconds they found two candidates. Jax Jackson, an apex high school football star whose career was cut short due to the particle accelerator explosion. The second was Henry Hewitt, an egotistical scientist who wanted nothing more than to be a powerful hero. I suppose it was done to speed the story along but it was jarring.
It’s weird that Caitlin was so bent on getting Hewitt to be Firestorm without checking any info on him. Also the reason that she didn’t want Jax was really flimsy. Franz Drameh excellent as Firestorm and seems like a suitable replacement for Robbie Amel’s Firestorm who was not as fleshed out. All said in done this episode felt more like a backdoor pilot for a Firestorm tv show.
The side story this week was Iris finally meeting her mother. I thought it made sense that Iris only wanted to meet her mother to tell her that she wanted nothing to do with her. It plays well into who the character is in not wanting anyone including her mother to hurt her father. I also like that she actually had a reason to come back that made sense. It’s going to be real interesting to see how it pans out now that we know Joe may have a son!
Now to the good part. Wells is back!!he is slowly being brought back into the show and that’s a good thing. Tom Cavanagh is so electric (pun intended) as Wells it’s always good to see him back. Now question is what’s his motivation. Why did he decide to come and aid this Flash and will there be consequences for this. Also how awesome did King Shark look! Sucks that he was on screen for literally 12 seconds! My only knock on this episode is where is Jay Garrick! After agreeing to stay it’s weird that there was no site of him. Overall another solid episode of the Flash.
John Cena did what many thought couldn’t be done. He took the US title, a title that was irrelevant and brought it to the forefront. With incredible matches vs the likes of Neville, Ziggler and even the World Champ, the US title has shined each time. With Hell in a Cell just hours away and John Cena facing a mystery opponent, who would be the best options for him to face.
The Swiss Superman would be a excellent choice to face Cena at Hell in a Cell due to the excellent in ring chemistry they have together. The last time they faced each other for the title is considered by many an instant classic. While he hasn’t been getting the push he deserves this could be the opportunity to make things right and let him proves that he deserves to be in the main event scene. There would certainly be a lot of competition for him to go up against. Cesaro has all the right tools to keep the US title open challenge going and also keep fans invested in matches.
New day rocks! New day rocks! The rise of the New Day has been one of the high spots of this year thus far. So why not reward there enforcer with some championship gold. The New Day have been on a tear lately defeating the Dudleys and Cena so it would make sense for Big E not only to get a title shot but to defeat Cena in shocking fashion. This would be a good way to solidify Big E as a main eventer and keep the New Day as a force to be reckoned with.
Samoa Joe! What’s a better way of introducing Joe to the roster than having him come out and slaughter John Cena. It would be an amazing moment seeing Joe and Cena in the same ring. When TNA was in its prime this was the match many fans wanted to see. Fans of Joe would love this and casual fans would get to see something new. Joe could easily become a fan favorite and quickly become one of the faces of the company if pushed correctly.
This is the one that most fans (including myself) want. The return of Daniel Bryan would undoubtedly not only steal the show but alone would make the PPV worth a buy. With Cena being gone for a undisclosed period of time who better than Daniel Bryan. Former champ and current fan favorite since his departure fans has left a hole in fans hearts. Bringing him back could be the shot in the arm the WWE needs.
Stephen Amell… because why not! Lol
Joe has a crappy (alive) wife, Barry has a coffee named after him
and Captain Cold has been kidnapped! Just another day in the life of the Flash! Wentworth Miller continues to excel as Leonard Snart aka Captain Cold. This time it’s up to the Flash to supposedly save Cold as he has been kidnapped.
Peyton List does an adaquate job as Lisa Snart. Displaying the right amount of concern as she ask the Flash to find her brother. She also showed more concern when she found out her dad is the one who he is actually working with. There’s a touching moment between Lisa and Cisco which if done correctly could have a good payoff. I’m looking forward to see where the show goes with those two characters. Gustin and Miller continues to have the great chemistry when it comes to be to rivals that have respect for each other.Barry and Snart clearly have respect each other. On to Lewis Snart played Sam Fisher himself: the great Michael Ironside. Ironside is ruthless as Snart’s father as he doesn’t have the same code of honor as his son. It’s also interesting that while he shows compassion for his son the same is not felt for his daughter.
One of the few problems I had with this episode was the Joe story. While I commend Jessie Martin’s performance I just didn’t find the story believable. His wife has been gone for 20 years and only returns after finding out her fiancée died. I also didn’t understand how Iris was upset with Joe lying to protect her about the Flash but was okay with a 20 year lie about her mother. It seems like there should have been more to this. Also there was really no closure do to mother only showing up at the beginning. Another minor gripe is that this episode was extra lite on the Jay Garrick which made this episode feel more filler than usual. The show also always does a good job with connecting the dots end. Overall another solid episode of the Flash.
I admit: when I first heard about the show I didn’t know what it was. I thought it was a reality show where the winner would get a role in the next Scream movie. Me not being to big on reality shows had no interest in watching it. For those who are unaware Scream Queens is a horror comedy on Fox that’s about a Sorority that is being stalked by a serial killer. The premise is very similar to movies like Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer.
Me being a fan of horror movies ( especially 80s slasher films) thought I should give the show a shot. So I watched the first episode know what: I absolutely hated it! I thought all the girls were idiots and deserved the worse faith that could be possibility bestowed onto them. As I watched the episode I screamed at the tv about bad choices cast members made and bad decisions.
After the credits rolled on the episode and I watched the previews for the next week it dawned on me. Not only did I watched the whole episode but I was completely invested into what happen the next week! What makes Scream Queens such a interesting show is that it doesn’t take itself serious. Much like an 80s slasher film you have all of the character tropes. You got the dumb jock who sleeps with all the girls, the popular mean girl and the innocent heroine who wants to save the day. These tropes are raised to a 10 with laugh out loud results. The mean girl literally kills someone in the first 30-45 minutes of the show and it’s literally brushed to the side because the person was not popular.
What makes Sceam Queens work is that for every funny moment there is another terrifying moment that fits so perfectly into the world. One minute your laughing at the absurdity of the cast and the next your terrified that one of the castmates you like will have their head chopped off by a lawnmower! Emma Roberts is perfect as Chanel Oberlin: The It girl who would do anything to keep her top status. Also there is Jamie Lee Curtis: The dean of the school that would do anything to keep the school in high regard. In closing Scream Queens is a great show with a great and funny cast. It has the perfect blend of horror and comedy that will keep you coming back for more.
WWE Champ Brock Lesner Vs Roman Reigns was the match that no one wanted for Wrestlemania. Since Rumble, Reigns had become the most hated man in wrestling. Fans booed, hissed and even went as far as to create a change.org petition to get him out of the Main Event. WWE was put into the precarious situation of having a Wrestlemania Main Event that no one wanted to see.
Enter The architect Seth Rollins. And with two Curb Stomp’s Rollins became the savior of Mania and the start of the future of WWE… Or so we thought. Rollins title reign has thus far been mediocre at best as every week we watch the champ title reign flounder do to bad writing and uninteresting matches. In Rollins defense it’s mostly not his fault. Pairing him with semi retired/retired wrestlers (The Authority) was clearly a mistake.
What if the outcome of Wrestlemania was different? What if the WWE went with the decision of Roman Reigns winning Wrestlemania? How different would the Title situation be now? Reigns Vs The Authority is a very different story than Rollins with them. Reigns as the champ that no one wants. The Authority trying to make him there champ and then trying to destroy him. So many ways you can go with the story. This year Reigns has greatly improved! Making him a fighting champ would have went a long way into making him a credible champ. And if all else fails you could have Rollins cash in a still have him have a championship run.
You can’t change the past and the presence is now. The WWE champ is Seth Rollins. While his run isn’t a total bust WWE has done everything in its power to make his run irrelvalant. It’s not too late to turn the tide. Rollins has great in ring ability and is very entertaining on the mic. Give him the room to grow his character and stand on his own two feet. And for god sake give him back the Curb Stomp!!!!
