Arrow A.W.O.L Review

A.R.G.U.S is back

Let me be first to say that as with Flash I like the running start of the episode. Getting straight to the issue of the episode instead of filler is always a good thing. Let me also say that I am glad that the flashback this week is a story about Diggle and his brother. I have been saying that since last season the flashback element has gotten stale and it needs to be switched up. Getting to see more into the brothers past was also much needed as it helped to flesh out a story that since the start of the season has been lacking.

Felicity this week was awesome as she was having hallucinations due to her pain medication. This was excellent because it was clearly a roundabout way of addressing the fans who complain that over the last two seasons Felicity has lost her edge.  She went from the fun loving witty character who was very independent to a character who was dependant on Oliver. Emily Brett Rickard did an excellent job of not only playing two roles as her old self and who she is now but as someone is clearly cracking under the stress of what’s going on. We also got a code name for Felicity: Overwatch, I like it a lot as it fits who  she is as a character and feels earned. This lead to a cool moment that clearly verify so that a certain hero exist in this world. Also now that a certain show was cancelled could this be an Ant-Man situation. Those who saw Ant-Man know that a certain web slinger was mentioned before the accouncment of him joining the MCU.

We also got our first look at Shadowspire and the return of Amanda Waller. As a rival organization to A.R.G.U.S Shadowspire works well and gives us something different from the villian of the week that we usually get. We also got a very shocking moment that was unexpected but I assume necessary due to a certain movie that comes out this year. It sucks because it feels like there could’ve have been have been more done with the character. Also the end of the episode gave us the nice touch of Andy helping his brother save Lyla and finally being let free and into John’s home. Overall a very good episode of Arrow.
Score 8.5 out of 10
